Please note that the package tour Wilderness Train – Walpurgis 2026 is currently being planned.
Below is the program for 2025.

A unique, historic and exclusive train journey where you get to experience the best that northern Sweden has to offer.

In collaboration with the Swedish Railway Museum in Gävle, we are proud to present the Wilderness Train – a unique journey through northern Sweden’s breathtaking landscapes. The route takes you from Stockholm Central – Östersund – Arvidsjaur – Jokkmokk – Kiruna – Örnsköldsvik – back to Stockholm Central.

In Stockholm you step aboard museum carriages from the 1940s, 50s, and 60s, each with its own story to tell. The crew, dressed in authentic period uniforms, welcomes you while the train is pulled by historic locomotives – from modern diesel engines to impressive steam engines. Travel in comfort in plush armchairs as the Swedish landscape unfolds outside your window. In the dining car, dishes are freshly prepared on board by our skilled kitchen team.

On this train romantic journey you stay comfortably in carefully selected hotels, and take part in exciting activities and excursions that provide an authentic Swedish experience.

Our dedicated tour leaders accompany you to the hotels and selected activities, ensuring that every part of your journey is memorable and truly extraordinary.

We hope to see you onboard – this is a journey you won't soon forget!

The trip is sold only to individual travelers, not to groups with their own tour leader.

During this trip you travel in the railway museum's first-class carriages from the 40s, 50s and 60s. Here are some things that are good to keep in mind before booking this trip:
The train is not wheelchair adjusted. There are steep steps to get on board the train. While on the train you are seated in low armchairs, the toilet is small and there are long walking distances on board the train.
It is important that you are able to get on and off the train on your own, as well as walking between the carriages on board without help. Transfer to the hotels are included.

  • This journey is a co-operation with the Swedish Railroad museum in Gävle. Different kind of locomotives are used including a steam locomotive.

We reserve the right to make changes.
