Welcome to the winter city Östersund! In snow-covered landscapes and sparkling winter skies your adventure begins. Before we take the train north, you'll have time to experience some of Jämtland and the Storsjö region on your own.
At dinnertime we visit Sir Winston restaurant for a local buffet in a cozy setting. After dinner, we check in at Hotel Östersund and settle in for a restful night's sleep. Entrance to the hotel´s SPA is included.
We start the day with hotel breakfast and after we walk together to Östersund Central Station to board the northbound train to Kåbdalis.
After a few hours, we stop in Vilhelmina to eat at award winning Bergmans Fisk & Vilt before continuing our journey along Inlandsbanan. We get to enjoy the winter landscape from the train and might even spot wildlife like moose or fox. We take a coffee break at the Inlandsbanemuseum in Sorsele.
At dinnertime, a two-course meal from Lapplandsmat is served on the train. After, we continue our travels to Kåbdalis, where we check in to cozy cabin apartments. After a smooth transfer to our accommodation, we can relax, take a sauna, and prepare for tomorrow's adventures in Jokkmokk.
We wake up and enjoy breakfast at Blåfjells Lodge. After, the train takes us to Jokkmokk for a full day at Jokkmokk Winter Market. Here, traditions, unique crafts, and cultural experiences await in this magical winter landscape. You have free time to experience the market.
A drop-in lunch at Giessa Restaurant Tipi is included. Enjoy traditional Sami dishes in a cozy setting. Entrance to Ájtte- Swedish Mountain and Sami Museum is included. At Ájtte, we learn about Sami culture and history. The day offer discoveries and cultural insights in the heart of Jokkmokk.
Around 6 PM, the train departs back to Kåbdalis. After a day rich with impressions, we look forward to the evening. At the lodge, a barbecue buffet awaits. With good food and pleasant company, we end the day.
After breakfast, we head back to Jokkmokk for a second day at the market. We now have the chance to delve deeper into local traditions. We recommend visiting the reindeer race, experiencing Sami handicrafts, visiting Jokkmokks Tenn, and tasting local food. The day invites to new insights and memorable experiences.
This day it is also possible to book an add-on day trip to the Icehotel to an additional fee. We travel there by bus and stop for lunch in Lappeasuando before visiting the Icehotel's exhibitions and Jukkasjärvi Church, which is the oldest church in Lapland. The day offers contrasts and unique experiences.
In the early evening, we leave the crowd and liveliness once again and head back to Kåbdalis. Once in Kåbdalis, we enjoy a two-course dinner with local flavors. For those interested, you can add a cheese and wine tasting today.
It's time for the return journey back to Östersund. After breakfast, we head to the train. Along the way, we stop for lunch at River Hotel in Sorsele and we have dinner prepared over an open fire at Doro Camp in Dorotea. Upon reaching Östersund West, we check in to Clarion Hotel Östersund for the final night of this trip.
